Poland is a fascinating country that sits at the geographical and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe. Located in the heart of the Northern European plain, Poland has been a nation of survivors from the formation of the first Polish state over 1000 years ago.

Poland is situated in the very heart of Europe. With a total area of 312,679 km² (120,728 sq mi), it is the sixth largest country on the continent. Poland has a population of over 38.5 million people. Warsaw is the capital city, with a population of roughly 2 million. Poland borders seven countries: Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania to the east, and Russia to the north.

Despite its violent histry, its people have managed to retain their identity, and the country now holds a critical position as the largest of the former Eastern European states and one of the most populous members of the European Union.

In Polish cities, students can easily obtain part-time work. Wages rise steadily, thus many Polish students select paid education and begin working. However, permission to work in Poland is dependent on your nation of origin.

Poland is classified as having a mild climate with effects from both the continent and the ocean. The average yearly temperature is about 6-8 degrees Celsius, and the rainfall is calculated at 700 mm.
